Re: "Coal Torpedo" Explosion on the USS CHENANGO

Terry--

We are in contact with David W. Gaddy, and have put him in contact with Tom. Gaddy is definitely an interested supporter of our work. As is Ed Steers, Jr. (author of Blood on the Moon). I have an article at Lincoln Herald that is supposed to get published sometime this year, but it doesn't touch on the Navy (even riverine) stuff. It is about a Louisville warehouse fire in July 1864.

Send me your email address (mine is georule@civilwarstlouis.com) and I'll see if I can find my image of the SA article to send you. The Porter book is "Incidents and Anecdotes of the Civil War", 1891. It is much rarer than his history of the Union Navy.

If you are a little interested in the riverine stuff, there is a partial list of "possibles" for sabotage as an appendix to my "Tucker's War" at http://www.civilwarstlouis.com/History2/tuckerswar.htm We have a more complete list of which this is a subset that we haven't shared in public yet. Not to mention we are still working on it.

Best. Geo Rule www.civilwarstlouis.com
