I am researching a Sailor named Gurdon D. Tupper, he was listed as serving on the USS Muscoota/ assigned to the Carolina Coast and the balance of the war period on the Mississippi between St. Louis Mo and New Orleanse, La.
He went out west to Montana sometime after the war and died in Missoula MT 2 Jan 1944.
He is buried in the Missoula City Cemetery but has never received a Military Marker. I am attempting to prove military service and request the stone to mark his grave.
Does anyone have any info on the USS Muscoota or rosters of assigned sailors.
