Does anyone know for sure what happened to the Union ironclad Mound City after the steam explosion at St. Charles, Arkansas on june 17. 1862? Most reports say it was towed back to Memphis, and from there it is unknown what happened to it. Then I recently read a report somewhere that said that some evidence had turned up that it was sunk there in the White River where the explosion occurred.
