Kroehl is an interesting man. He built a submarine that was offered to the Union but apparently turned down. It was shipped to Panama and used for the Pearling industry. Kroehl is supposed to have died from the bends using his sub. he basically used it as a mobile diving bell. The sub itself was recently found in remarkably good condition.
