George N. Collins, sr., killed by Custer's troops.

I have come across a notation, in the Official Records of the Army, volume 46, part 1, that "commodore" Collins [George Nichols Collins, sr.], of the Confederate States Navy, was killed by a scouting party from Custer's command, near Charlottesville, Virginia, in March, 1865. I cannot find any such confirmation in other publications, such as the REGISTER OF THE OFFICERS OF THE CONFEDERATE STATES NAVY, or in the Naval Official Records. Can anyone confirm this data, from other sources, please?
The REGISTER volume, although compiled from official documentation and sources, seems to be far from complete, in relation to the officers of the CSN, as there is much data that seems to be omitted, or incorrect, as I am slowly finding.

Surname should be Hollins, not Collins.
