>I wish to advise that the names missing from this list
>are Michael Aheam, paymaster's steward, USS KEARSARGE
To further complicate matters, I believe that the name was mistakenly recorded as Aheam when it is in fact Ahearn. He was one of several "stowaways" who came on board in Queenstown, county Cork, in contravention of the Foreign Enlistments Act. I have not, however, been able to learn exactly what a paymaster's steward did to merit the Medal of Honor in the battle with the CSS Alabama.
