Battery Composition

I would like know the composition of an artillery battery, i.e.,
personnel: numbers, ranks, articifer types; wagons, etc.

My specific interest is in the 3rd Maryland battery, CSA. However,
typical numbers will do.

For contrast, I note that Capt. Cavalie Mercer in his Journal of the
Waterloo Campaign, for his Flying Artillery Troop (Battery), required
some 226 animals! The Troop was divided into three Divisions of two
guns each.

The 3rd Md battery was assigned to Reynold's brigade at Vicksburg and
later Vaughn's cavalry brigade.

I'd also like to know of any specific books I could review re the
artillery branch.

Thanks in advance,
