Tom, those ranges are for the six pounder gun. That account is a fascinating read. "Contributions to a History of The Richmond Howitzer Battalion" is another one. It's a compilation of 4 "pamphlets" that were written by the veterans themselves. Each pamphlet contains several accounts. Including several great diaries. My favorite is William S. White's " A Diary of the War, Or What I Saw of It". White was a gunner in The Third Company towards the end of the war. This was a great adventure for these men back then.
