Working on Book DeGolyer

NOW UNDER CONSTRUCTION: A NEW NARRATIVE HISTORY OF THE 1ST MICHIGAN LIGHT ARTILLERY A.K.A. DeGOLYER’S MICHIGAN ARTILLERY BATTERY A.K.A. BATTERY H 1ST BATTERY IN THE CIVIL WAR.
Oct. 22, 2010
Dear Michigan Civil War buff, collector, genealogist, librarians, and history lovers.
A veteran Civil War researchers and writer, Marty Bertera (author and co-author of “The History of the 4th Michigan Infantry,” Michigan State University Press, Oct. 2010. “The 4th Michigan Infantry at the Battle of Gettysburg,” Morningside Publications, 1990. “Cleaning up the Muss the Civil War letters of Doctor Chamberlin, 2008” and “The 4th Michigan Infantry at the Battle of New Bridge,” Tillieagnes Press, 2003) is now in the process of producing a thorough narrative history of the DeGolyers 8th Michigan Light Artillery Battery H.
Marty has been doing research on DeGolyer and this distinguished Battery for two decades. Though there is no definite timetable for this project, the manuscript could be completed sometime in 2009. At whatever point this work nears completion, a publisher (Longstreet House) for the book on the DeGolyers 8th Michigan Light Artillery Battery H has agreed to the project.
If you have manuscript sources relating to the DeGolyers 8th Michigan Light Artillery Battery H, such as letters or diaries, or portraits or other kinds of materials that you would be willing to copy, transcribe or otherwise share with him, please contact Marty Bertera at berteramarty@netscape.net. All that can offer you in return, should we be able to use your contribution, is a copy of the finished project and our thanks.
Future projects under way at this time will be a history of the 18th Michigan Infantry.

Thank you for your consideration.
Marty N. Bertera
