The recorded sounds for the movie "Master and Commander" were done in February with a deep snow on the ground. Two guns were used, a Tredegar Iron Napoleon and a 24 pdr howizter. We used solid shot, chain shot, bar shot, and quilted grape. Sounds of the projectiles were recorded at various distances about 150 yards out to over 500 yards. The guns were also recorded and the concussion blew a couple of the mikes out.
