No offense taken. Cabell County was very devided over the war and I would guess this was an early example of propoganda by the Ironton (Ohio) Weekly. As stated the ladies mentioned were from Wayne County, not Cabell County and I'm sure the people of Guyandotte weren't thrilled to have this presentation take place in their town.
Frank Lesage was born in New York of French parents but was not part of the colony of Eli Thayer. His father Julius Lesage came to Cabell County about 1851 from Philadephia and founded the town of Lesage's Mill, now Lesage. Julius and his younger son Joseph served in Co G, 1st WV Cavalry.
