Residence Ridgeville, Hampshire County WV; a 42 year-old Farmer.
Enlisted on 7/28/1861 at Staunton, VA as a Private.
On 7/28/1861 he mustered into "F" Co. VA 7th Cavalry
(date and method of discharge not given)
He was listed as:
* On rolls 2/28/1862 (place not stated) (On rolls through 07/01/62)
* Detailed 11/15/1864 New Creel Depot, WV (Scouting)
Other Information:
born 12/15/1818 in Patterson Creek, WV
(Member of the Society of CSA Army and Navy Association
of MD.)
After the War he lived in Welton Dist., Mineral County, WV

Conceiving the idea of cutting the railroad, burning the machine shops, and creating general havoc, Captain McNeill with sixty men set out from Indian Old Field in Hardy County on May 3, 1864.55 Traveling but a short distance, the Rangers found Captain John T. Peerce on detached service for the Confederate army. Responding favorably to their invitation to accompany the Rangers, he joined them and was to play a vital role in the expedition.
