The West Virginia in the Civil War Message Board

John H. Boon(e); Hardy/Hampshire Co, W.Va.

Hello,

I'm LOOKING for anyone who might know something, on my G.G.G.G.-Grandfather
JOHN H. BOON/BOONE; (who lived in old Hardy Co, "OLD" Virginia territory);
before the "Civil War." Who had enlisted into the 7th Virginia Regiment;
Harris' Company/Ashby's Cavalry; as a "Private" Confederate Soldier.

His (wife) Ruth E. Boon(e) filed a claim on him, dated on July 13th, 1863;
so this makes me believe he must have died sometime between (Oct/1861 and
July/1863). Because John and Ruth's youngest child (daughter) Virginia Bell
was born on July 22nd, 1862, in Hardy Co, "Old" Va./present day W.Va. So,
this proves John H. Boon(e) was still alive (9 months earlier); before his
unknown death. And being that he first lived in "old" Hardy and Hampshire
Co, "OLD" Virginia territory (now present day) West Virginia territory. I
am getting confused - as to which state I should look for his records, etc.

I'm also trying to find out - what battle he last fought in, and where he's
possible buried at. Not sure if he's in West Virginia (or) Virginia...?

Any helpful information you can give me on him. I would be very grateful
and appreciative...

Thanks, and have a "blessed" day.
