Re: Clarence Wicks 19th Wisconsin

Johnny,
I can't thank you enough, that's a barrel full of information. Thanks so very much. I will verify with his Service Records-I am confident that he is one and same in both units. He has intrigued me for some time-hot and cold-this time I intend(ed) to solve the intrigue. Some could perhaps see some irony in what apparently occurred with his life-or "fog of war", "war is hell", "that's the way it was" etc. As a 17 years old he shot and killed a Confederate prisoner at Camp Randall, for being badgered so as to say. He was cleared, but the Commissary General of Prisoners was quite disturbed by the event. He appears to have been wounded and taken prisoner himself at Cold Harbor, from whence he entered into the company of the "Great Majority" in July 1864. I now am searching for a known burial for Private Wicks.
