You might check the 1860 census and get some of the information that you seek. If he was married at that time, that would be there or perhaps if he was young and living at home, you might find that. If you know the county he came from, you might check with the county recorder of that county and find out where he is buried.
Another option is to go to the site that is bordered in red at the top of this page and get his military record and if he applied for a pension that information would be there. Look for him in the later census's for famlily information. Perhaps the Wisconson Secretary of State or whoever has the archives for the state might be able to help you.
