He's listed as Augustus Stitzer, enlisted at Burr Oak WI, Feb. 29, 1864, reassigned to Co. "D", 12th Wisconsin Regiment, June 2, 1865.

As a member of Sherman's army during the 1864-65 period, I would guess he didn't make any friends in Georgia or the Carolinas, and didn't venture south of the Mason-Dixon line after the war.
