I am interested in finding information on my great grandfather, Peter Gonnering. He was from Port Washington and is said to have been in the Navy during and shortly after the War. One problem, he apparently used an alias instead of his actual name. Help! Any leads would be great. He served on the ship, Franklin I am lead to believe.
