Dill, Daniel J. of Prescott, Wis. April 27, 1861 captain, Company B, 6th Wis. Infantry Rgt. July 22, 1862 colonel, 30th Wis. Infantry Rgt. Regiment served in the Dakota Territory followng the 1862 Sioux uprising in Minnesota then moved to Louisville, Ky. where it served as provost guard. Dill was provost marshal general for the Department of Kentucky from April to July 1865. He was mustered out on Sept. 20, 1865 at Louisville, Ky.

ill was bor in February 1830 in Pennsylvania, son of Matthew and Hannah Brawly Dill. As of 1850 he was farmer at Carroll Township, York County, Pa. and living with his parents. As of 1860 he was merchant and single at Prescott. He married Mary P. Johnson (October 1844 born in Illinois).
As of 1880 he was a farmer at Prescott.
On Nov. 19, 1890 he applied for a pension while living in Wisconsin. March 2, 1917 his widow Mary applied for a pension while living in Wisconsin.

His children were Grace B., c.1869 born; Alice J., c.1871 born and Abigil, October 1872 born, all born in Wisconsin
