Not to hijack your thread but General Sherman had something like this at Atlanta. the state of Indiana sent agents of the Indiana Sanitary commision to look after Indana boys but Sherman sent them packing. He said he did not want any favorites in his army. If they wanted to serve all the troops they could stay but if they only served Indiana troops they had to go and I think they left.
Sounds kind of harse to me.
