Searching for letters, journals, and other personal documents referencing the life and military service of Ohio's Sgt. Milton Murray Holland (1844-1910) of the Fifth U.S. Colored Infantry. Holland is perhaps best known as the recipient of the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Battle of Chaffin's Farm (New Market Heights) in September 1864. Basic details of Holland's military service record and life are readily available. My interest is to discover unpublished documents to help tell his story.
