My research shows Samuel W. Houston enlisted at age 21 as a Private in Co I 25th OVI June 26 1861. He was promoted to Corporal Jan 1 1862 and was later reduced back to the ranks (no date given) He is listed as being wounded May 8 1862 at McDowell VA (This battle is also known as Bull Pasture). He was promoted to 2nd Lt. June 3 1863. He mustered out July 16 1864.
