Thanks to John Heseltine for information provided. There is a pension index for his widow Matilda (Taylor) Miller (1850-1914), Application #750.141; Certificate #571,450: state: Michigan. Miller continued as a career soldier, eventually rising to the rank of major. His grave marker says "Maj.Charles R.Miller 1846-1901." He is buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, Milford, Oakland County, Michigan, beside Matilda.
Other related Taylors were prominent in that area well into the 20th century.
