The L.G.A.R. in Ohio invites all women ages 10 years of age and up who are direct descendants of Union Civil War veterans, direct descendants of Union nurse, or if you are niece of a Union Civil War veteran, to consider the Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic as an organization where you can honor the name of your Ohio Civil War veteran and show your patriotism. As the oldest organization for women in the United States, the LGAR also has the distinction of being the only organization thay may use the name of the Grand Army of the Republic.
