Thanks for your note about General Wagner. I also agree that General Wagner did great service to the Union Army. He was an important brigade commander, under General Phil Sheridan, during the successful Battle of Missionary Ridge.

My wife's great-great grandfather, Major Frank White, was the regimental commander in Wagner's Brigade, during the Battle of Missionary Ridge. Major White was wounded in this battle. He was later reassigned to the 17th Indiana Volunteer Mounted Infantry Regiment, under Wilder's Brigade. The 17th IVI chased the confederate General Bedford Forrest all over Tennessee and Georgia, finally cornering him at Macon.

There has been many books written about Wilder's Brigade, but nothing about Wagner's Brigade. There should be.
