The Ohio in the Civil War Message Board

Buttons

I found this site on the web, and I thought someone out there may be able to help me. I have about 20 coat and cuff buttons from a civil war uniform (unfortunately, the uniform was tossed). Most are coat button size and have an eagle on them. Some say Excelsior on the face, and some have manufacturer information on the back. I also have some cuff buttons with an eagle having a shield body. I have one large coat button with the Ohio Seal on it. Condition ranges from very nice to dirty and dented. The loop on the back is present on each button. Finally, I have what appears to be a breastplate. It's round, with an eagle, two projections on the back, and it says W.H. Smith Brooklyn on the back.
I'd rather these go to an Ohio Civil War enthusiast, instead of some person on Ebay.
Here's the questions---are there collectors out there? Do these have some value? I realize it's tough to ascertain with seeing them (I'd send digital pix to interested parties), but a guesstimate on values would be appreciated.
If no one on this Board is interested, could you point me toward events or dealers that might have an interest? I hate to leave them in a box in a drawer.
Thanks for your help.
