Re: Colonel Emerson Opdycke - 125th OVI

I hope that you enjoy your vist to Franklin, I know that I alawys do.I was at the 140th Reenactment and it was a spectacular event. They had done a very good job of recreating the battle fields.I have the documentary film on the Battle Of Franklin and it is one of the best that I have seen. If you get to go to the Carter House be sure to talk to Thomas Cartwright,he is the one in charge of the Carter House and is full of valuable information. My great -great grandfather also fought at the Battle Of Frankin,he was with the 111th O.V.I. in Ruger's Division just to the west of the Columbia Pike.He talks about the the battle in his diary and how the Confederates charged their position at least twelve times.
