The Ohio in the Civil War Message Board

Re: local newspapers Civil War era

I don't live close to the local library where I could look through newspapers from Civil War era. Wondering if papers like the Xenia Torchlight/Gazette would have done stories or info on soldiers in the war and also returning soldiers after the war? Would it be worth a trip home to look through the papers to find info on my ancestor? John McNamee (age 55) private OH 110th Infantry and then the Invalid Corp. His time in the Invalid Corp was spent at Taylor Hosital in OH guarding prisoners. Are there pictures anywhere of the OH 110th or Taylor Hospital?
Thank you for your time and input.
