Isaac H. Bonsall, photographer

I am researching the back ground of one Isaac H. Bonsall, born 1833 died 1909 in Arkansas City Kansas. He was born in Cincinnati and grew up in the vicinity. He was a Quaker, having roots with the Bonsall clan in Philidelphia. He learned the trade of photography from Mathew Brady. I have confirmed sources that he opened photography shops in Kansas City, Lawrence and Leavenworth prior to the Civil War. In 1859 he removed to New Orleans where he continued his profession there. When the war started he returned to Ohio and enlisted in the 2nd Ohio Infantry, or at least that is what is said. I cannot find a record of him in that regiment and would like to confirm his record. Next, I know that he served on General Rosecrans staff as a military photographer attached to the Engineer Brigade of the Army of the Cumberland. In tracking him I have found many pictures he has taken that are significant to the history of the war. I have found no portrait or likeness of the man. I do know he was classified as a military photographer. Also while residing in Arkansas city he served as a Judge, Federal Commissioner and many other offices. He maintained a shop in that city where he had many of his records. According to newspaper sources he did in fact have records of his service showing passes through the lines as well as identifying him as a sergeant. Can someone guide me in finding this mans service cards and on whose rosters does he appear for purposes of pay? Thanks to anyone who can guide me in this matter.
