Hi Charles. Thanks for your info. I do have his monthly rollcalls but they don't tell where he was and I have checked for a pension but didn't find one. He passed away at the MN Soldiers Home in 1905. His name was Michel or Michael Schmitz. I also have an outline of where the 8th Regiment went from the civilwar.nps.gov/cwss/ website. It is titled "UNION MINNESOTA VOLUNTEERS". It does tell what they did and where they went, but I am looking for this in more detail. Maybe that's not possible. Thanks again. Chris
