On 5/5/1861 he was commissioned into "D" Co. MN 2nd Infantry
He was Mustered Out on 8/15/1862

On 9/10/1862 he was commissioned into Field & Staff MN 10th Infantry
He was Mustered Out on 8/19/1865 at Fort Snelling, MN
