Thanks for the added info.

From what I can tell both Justice Lemire and Justus Lemerc are the same individual who enlisted once in 1861 and then re-enlisted in 1864 at the end of his first term. I have no doubt that this is in fact my ancestor Eustache Lemire, especially since the ages correspond as well.

As to other information that might confirm his reception of a pension, I'm not sure what that might be. I don't know all that much about him.

I know that a marriage license was issued to him and Zepherine Elemond on June 14, 1866 in Winsted, MN were the couple's first children were born. I also know that the family moved and settled in southern Manitoba in 1876 or 1877. They settled in a newly-founded rural community called St. Pierre, but I have no idea how mail was delivered to there at the time or until Eustache Lemire's death there on Nov 13, 1914 at the age of 68.
