The Michigan in the Civil War Message Board

CW ancestors

Hello,
I am seeking information regarding relatives from two sides of my family (Congdon and Baldwin) who served in Michigan units during the CW as follows:

Arthur Congdon, 24th Michigan, Bugler. My G-G Grandfather. I have word-of-mouth history and 3 photos of him, 2 in uniform.

David Congdon, 24th Michigan, Lt. Arthur’s brother. I have no verbal record; one signed photo in uniform.

Elisha Congdon, 20th Michigan, Infantry. 1/2 brother of Arthur and David. No info other than Have visited his grave (and Arthur’s) in Chelsea, Michigan.

Alonzo Baldwin, Michigan Cavalry unit? I have one photo in uniform.

William “Billy” Young, 24th Michigan, drummer boy. Not a relative but obviously a family friend as I have photo of Billy and Arthur together, in uniform and my Grandparents referred to him as “Billy.”
Also possibly have a pair of Billy’s drumsticks.

Unidentified: Two additional soldiers in the Baldwin album, one in uniform with a Springfield rifle.

Elisha Congdon 1799-1867 was Arthur, David and Elisha’s father. He was one of the founders of Chelsea, Michigan and the town library was his home. Arthur Congdon’s home is also in Chelsea. David died in Berkeley, California and I have no additional info on him.

I am seeking any information.....photos, writing, verbal history, etc. Thank you.
