I have an extensive collection of material related to the Seventeenth
Michigan Infantry. I am happy to help you with your query about your
great-grandfather, Nazareth Paquette.

Paquette enlisted (3yrs) in Co. G on 4JA1864 at Summerfield, MI. He 39
years old. He joined the regiment at Annapolis , MD on 9AP1864. At the end
of the war he was transferred to the Co. G, Second Michigan Infantry and
was mustered out on 3JN1865 at Delaney House, near Washington, DC.

The transfer was a typical process forey enlisted for three years.

The exact location of "Delaney House" is undetermined.

in 1901 he was living in Petersburg, MI.

I do not have any additional information or a photograph--if you do, I
would appreciate and would pay for copies. Post-war photographs are
desirable as well.

With the Seventeenth he would have seen action during the 1864 Virginia
Campaign (Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor) and the Petersburg
Campaign through the end of the war.
