Thanks. Lorenzo Dow Forbes, my great-grandfather, is the one who enlisted in the 12th and was drafted into the 9th. We have many of his letters from the war as well as his convalescence in Iowa between tours. He was, as it seems were many babies born around the same time, named after an inspiring (if you can call it that) evangelist named Lorenzo Dow.

What bothers me on this Memorial Day, is that someone in Oregon says that their Lorenzo Forbes was mine, and they've gotten the local chapter of the DAR or something similar, to decorate "his" grave. We know for a fact that the real L.D. Forbes lies in the Chesterton, Indiana cemetery not far from his final home.
