4th. mich. cav. Jeff Davis Revolver

Dear Sir, I have been looking for info. about my wife's great grandfather and his brother, his name is Edwin Hines and John Hines his brother joined together in manchester mich. july 23, 1862, 4th. mich. cavalry co. E they were in a lot of battles and skirmishes day after day all thru the war. and ended up at the capture of Jeff Davis, where John Hines and two other soldiers went into Davi's tent first and Jeff Davis sat up and said I surrender reached in the bed and pulled out his revolver and handed it to John Hines, we still have that revolver, It's been tucked away in the closet and passed down thru the family since the war. We know the story behind this piece of history, and I have been able to prove most of it but still need a couple of pieces to the puzzle. the two soldiers that was with John Hines was Charles W Tyler and John W. Linsley see {Paw Paw's role in the capture of Jeff Davis, John W. Linsley's report. I'am trying to find out who took the gun from John Hines after he was killed and gave it to Edwin Hines who brought it back home with him. I have Edwins full pension file and it say's he was returned to duty on the 7th.of may from a hospital in Macon Ga. but I don't know if he was at the capture or not, a few men went with the 128 picked men on there own that wasn't counted, also there was some of Jeff Davis's personal property taken at Waldo, Florida on June 15, 1865 and forwarded to headquarters Dept. of the south, at Hilton Head, S. C. It list everything that was in the trunk and some other things, it list a pistol case furnished, it might be the one that goe's with this Beaumont Adams Revolver that I have. I would like to know where it is located in what museum. if any one can help I would appreciate it very much, I have only been searching for about 10 yrs. Thank you T C Rev. I'am not to handy at running this p c so bear with me I'll get thru it.
