The Michigan in the Civil War Message Board

1st Michigan Cavalry

This is my grandfather, William Sollitt WWI Vet's grandfather, Franklin Sollitt. He fought in the Michigan Calvary under George Custer and then he was mustered into the Indian War Unit and he fought in the Powder River Campain.

Can anyone help me find more info on him? He may be listed under wrong spelling as Franklin Sullett?

Thanks, Mark Sollitt See Below for Info.

He ended up committing suicide by putting his head in a gas stove in the 1900's because he was suffering from so many wounds that he got in the Civil War. His wife, Annie Jordan Sollitt collected his pension but that was done through an attorney because the Great Chicago Fire burned all the records of Civil War Vets?
