The Michigan in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Frederick Blydorn (Blydoin) Gravesite

If he had a headstone it has likely been recorded. I am sure you know that the DRA did extensive readings in the 1930s and many cemeteries have been read more recently. The Library of Michigan in Lansing has at least one such book on readings from that cemetery. Also the State Archives in Lansing has most Civil War veteran’s grave locations, remember many got government headstones. If he has a government headstone or a flag holder then the local VFW probably places a flag on it on Memorial Day. They would have a list of the graves they put flags on and where they are. Also are sure you have the right cemetery? The Detroit area has two by that name, one in Springwell Township and one in Huron Township. I go to the State Library weekly and the next time I go I will check out the name in what books they have on Woodmere Cemetery and get back with you if I find the name.
