Lt. Wilson---Michigan Cavalry Brigade

When I was 15 years old my father took me to Gettysburg for the first time. My Dad was from Birmingham, AL and my mother was from Kenosha, Wisconsin and the Midland/Detroit, MI area. He told me that two of my great grandfathers were at Gettysburg, PA. on opposite sides. One with an Alabama CSA Cavalry Brigade and the other was a Lt. Wilson of the Michigan Cavalry. His first name? His unit, etc.? I'm having a devil of a time with some of these genealogy sites. I traced this Lt.Wilson back to my great grandmother, Charity Bacon Wilson, b 1855 d 1959 from my mother's side of the family. The Lt. Wilson that I think I'm looking for must have been her husband's father(her father-in-law). I also have a pretty strong link from my great grand mother,Charity Bacon, to Elizabeth Clift Bacon Custer( Custer's wife)through a Bacon cousin---2 different Bacon families in the same counties in 3 different states in genealogical progression migration from Conn. to NY to Michigan. That's too much of a coincidence. My mother's genealogical records from 1957-1978 don't show any of what I turned up over the last 6 months, thanks to the internet. I'm still still digging for the answers though. My records are incomplete and very time consuming, and "I'm running out of gas"! Anyway, it's quite possible though that I'm related to Custer's wife, and my great grandfather served under G.A.Custer in the Civil War!!! I'd appreciate anybody out there in Michigan that could help me out with this.
