General George W. Anderson of GAR DeWitt

I live in a home built for George W. Anderson in downtown DeWitt, Michigan. I am looking for any information: names, dates, pictures, anything about him that I can find out. I bought the house last summer, and while digging in the back yard, I unearthed some interesting things. Glass, leather?, some iron work, a piece of china, some teeth?. That got me interested in finding out more about the house. Based on the historical sign out front of my house. It was built by Philip Peck in the 1850's for General George W. Anderson of the Grand Army of the Republic of DeWitt, who died in the civil war. Any information or suggestions of informative sites to look at would be great. Thanks!
