Hello Len. I don't know for sure if the were related to John S.G.Evans, of Berdans Sharpshooters or not. Alfred Evans did have a brother John Evans who died in 1894 and is buried at the Foxes Corner Cemetery north of Lowell, Michigan. Alfreds' brother was Miron B.Evans (my ggrandfather) who was in Co.B, 16th Mich. and didn't Berdans men opperate with the 16th? Maybe there's a connection. Thanks,Gene. P.S.
