Found an Edward P. Case, c.1845 born; Sept. 7, 1864 enlisted at Grand Rapids, Mich as private, Battery M, 1st Mich. Light Artillery Regiment; Aug. 1, 1865 mustered out at Jackson, Mich.

I'd guess he was a member of Grand Army of the Republic Post 372.
