Perrins Sharpshooters - Attached to 27th Mi

Hello:

I'm sure some of you old pros can help out on this.

I have a Civil War ancestor (Erastus Tinklepaugh) He was in the 27th Michigan Inf, -1st Sharpshooters attached-. This was also known as (Perrins Sharpshooters). He enlisted in March of 1864 and was wouunded at Spotslyvania May 12, 1864.

**I am trying to assemble a (historically correct) rendition of the uniform his Sharpshooters Unit would have worn.**

I know they carried/used Spencer Rifles

Exam: Sack coat vs Frock, Kepi, Forage Slouch etc. My knowledge regarding Civil War Records research is limited.

Are there any regimental/company records floating around out there that would indicate what his Sharpshooters unit was issued uniform wise.

I would like to put together a historically correct uniform together to honor him and his Sharpshooters unit, in my Sons of Union Veterans organization. Any e mail links or info would be appreciated.
