Saw your posting ref. your interest in the 23rd Michigan Infantry. My Great Great Grandfather was Merrit W. Elmore and he enlisted as a Sgt. in the 23rd, was musterd out and commissioned as a Lt. He was with the 23rd until the end of the war. I am fortunate to have a transcript of his Diary during the war. If you are interested I would be happy to fwd. it to you. Also, I thought I would search the web and see if there were any reenactor groups that portrayed the 23rd however I have not found any on the web. I am a re-enactor with the 3rd Mi. Infantry Co. D based out of Spokane WA.
