Seeking additional information on Charles P. Kibler or Kibbler of Company L 1st Maryland Cavalry Regiment Potomac Home Brigade. Prior to his enlistment with the Maryland unit he was alleged to have served with Co. B 1st Battalion Pennsylvania Infantry. Kibler enlisted with the 1st Maryland Cavalry PHB on March 31, 1864 in Frederick, Maryland. He remained with the unit until his capture at Charlestown, Virginia on August 22, 1864. While a prisoner of war at Salisbury he enlisted in the 8th Battalion Confederate States Infantry. At Salisbury, North Carolina he was captured by Union forces under the command of General Stoneman.
