I've been "chewing" over the great information you sent. The thought comes back again and again how isolated these men must have been from homes and loved ones. Even for Kentuckians, Marylanders from the State west of the Chesapeake, and Missourians, there were occasional forays into those States, by which there was some hope of contact, direct or indirect, with their families. Because of geography and the Federal naval presence on Chesapeake Bay, the isolation of these Eastern Shore Confederates was virtually complete. How sad!
