Did John Flora serve as Nelson Case says, or NOT?

FLORA, John Andrew, b. 5 Sep 1845, Harrison Co., IN, in Bartholomew Co., IN 1860, Lyon Co., KS in 1865, died 1934 at Labette Co., KS

Judge Nelson Case's book; "History of Labette County, Kansas and its Representative Citizens", 1901, ed. & comp. Pub. by Biographical Publishing Co., Chicago, Ill, <http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/archives/labette/1901/toc.shtml> biography of John Andrew FLORA says,to wit:

"Mr. Flora enlisted in Company C, 6th Reg., Ohio Vol. Cav., and was transferred to Leavenworth, Kansas, where he was assigned to special scout duty. Mr. Flora served as a scout in Colorado, the Indian Territory, Kansas and Nebraska during the war, and took part in many skirmishes with the Indians. He did valuable service, and was mustered out in 1865."

Brother Daniel Rice Boon FLORA, b Union Co. IN, 9 Oct 1838, in Lyon Co., Ks 1865, died Ouary Co., CO 1906 is found, later applied for pension Dec 1880, then his wife applied for widow's fund 1909, other brother Volney Pulaski FLORA, b. Union Co. IN, 22 Dec 1834, at Breckenridge (Lyon after 1862) Co., KS fall 1860, died Montgomery Co., KS 1909 not found serving Union Army.
