The Kansas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: 6th Kansas Cavalry & Infantry

Dorthy, If your ancestor died in 1888 it is a safe bet he was a member of the GAR and if so he will be listed in the GAR records, may even have an obit. If you look at the Civil War Web site for Kansas and look for the pension records or Necrology for GAR veterans this might point you in the right direction. I am doing a history of the 6th Kansas with the burial locations of the men by roster. It is a fresh project and have only started, but I will be working my way towards Crawford county soon and if I find him I wll so advise. What records do you have on him?
