I have my gg-grandfathers Civil War records from the National Archives and his pension records. They're interesting, but they don't cover any battles. Mostly just the facts.
The only thing I've found on the Kansas recruiting efforts in MO was in the book "Mercer County Pioneer Traces" and it was only a couple of sentences long. Anything else you've got would be greatly appreciated. Colonel Johnson must have been quite the presuader to convince these men to join in Kansas rather than Missouri.
Howard, is there any special material I might find in the civil war records I have that would be of use to you?
Thanks for the help.
Mary
