He was; Daniel Bockins Budd, Private in 7th Kansas Cav. from 1862 until discharge in 1865, enlisted from Kansas, was discharged at Kansas. Was reputed by family legend to have been "warden" at Leavenworth prison for some years before marrying at Atchison, Ks. in 1871 and then going farming near Lansing, Ks. His first children were born at Lansing before he went west to eventially settle at Big Piney, Wyoming. My query hopes to establish facts about that employment at Leavenworth, his marriage at Atchison, and land ownership at Lansing.
