I've seen several references to a skirmish/engagment on November 19, 1864 at a place called "Timber Hills" involving a Kansas USCT regiment.

These sources say that the fight took place in the Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory. However, I've seen another reference which said Timber Hills was six miles from Columbus and north of Baxter Springs. This would place it closer to Fort Scott and in Kansas.

Dies anyone know if this battle was fought in Oklahoma or Kansas?
